[ It might just make Steve smile, not that he's going to admit to that. ]
I bet it's a little like riding a bike. You never really forget how to do it.
[ Cid, Dion, Geralt. Steve knew about Geralt, and he doesn't know who Dion is, but he makes mental notes all the same, hoping he can keep decent track of who ended up where. ]
Yeah, Wanda is a little shorthanded here so I've been trying to help out. Also, I do know Sam ended up in Thorne too, so you can add him to your list.
[ Since he assumes Claude is keeping one too, mental or otherwise. ]
You might be onto something there. I suppose it's an added bonus if you grew up in a court on top of that since it adds some familiarity.
[ He's less excited about that feeling - not that there's much to be excited about in regards to Thorne's monarchy, aside from this also providing an opportunity to see those he wouldn't be able to otherwise. That's not something he's taking for granted even if he feels the absence of who isn't here as keenly as everything else. Something Steve might be going through too, from the sound of it. ]
That's good to know since I haven't come across him yet, but I'll look for him before too long. It seems there's a good number of Summoned who arrived here first who are back again, at least from those in the Free Cities. We'll have to see what this time here brings and I'm glad you've got Wanda there too.
[ Frankly, Steve's more worried about the people like Sam and Geralt who have been shoved back to Thorne after choosing to get the hell of out dodge years ago. It must be a bizarre feeling, but unfortunately there isn't much he can do from Solvunn.
It looks like Claude's noticed the same thing. ]
Yeah. That almost makes me wonder if this was purposeful in some way, but it could just as easily be bad luck too.
Wanda's made this all a smooth transition for us, even if suddenly being in farmland is pretty strange after living in Cadens for so long.
After everything we've been through here, I can't say I'd be surprised if there was a purpose to it. Then it'd really just be a question of why or maybe better yet: who.
[ Something to puzzle over, certainly, even if he hasn't the slightest idea of how to go about figuring that out until they've all settled into new places a bit more. Then maybe if they're lucky, one of the nations might admit to being behind it since that seems likely. ]
I can imagine not just from the sights of it alone but... well, everything. I could say the same for the castle though I don't think we'll quite get the illusion of being ignored like we have over in the Free Cities.
Both, I think. We can't eliminate the possibility that the gods are involved somehow, but it's not like they've ever been big on revealing their cards to us.
[ People like Istredd might be willing to try and make contact to get a straight answer out of one of them, but Steve isn't so thrilled about that idea himself. He resents all the remnants of unreal memories he still has of becoming a god himself, so the idea of chatting with one leaves him uneasy. ]
Everyone has always said that they keep a close eye on the Summoned in Thorne, yeah. Have you gotten that sense so far?
That's true enough with how they appear and then vanish again until they decide to return.
[ Which: that'd been exactly how he'd operated as a god, and no sooner than thinking the words into being Claude's reminded of it. Difficult to not frown a little to himself though it passes. There's better things to focus on. ]
Yes and no, if that makes any sense. I've noticed there's a good number of guards - more around at closer ranger than the soldiers in Cadens, for example. But so far they're saying we'll be guests which I'd imagine would come with some surveillance built in since I'd find it hard to believe the new monarchy is completely stable this early into their reign. We'll have to see where things go from here.
That makes sense. So they're keeping a close eye on you, but they're not actually assigning each of you an escort or anything like that. Have you been able to leave the castle at all?
So it seems for now. I remember hearing from friends here there's at least one portal to another city sort of like what we have with Libertas if I'm not mistaken, so I hope to check that out for a bit of distance. What's traveling look like in Solvunn?
[ There's at least one town from what friends there have said in the past, from what he remembers. Or at least he's pretty sure, anyway, even if it's a settlement far different from Cadens or even Thorne and its castle. ]
You should definitely see the sights if you can. I'd be interested to hear what it's like from you.
[ If they ever make it back to the Free Cities, but no need to be a downer about that. ]
Here they use wagons drawn by goats or these large bird things to get around, it seems like. I don't know about any portals, but I'm not eager to mess with those right now anyway.
[ Claude's silently thinking the same thing though also keeping it to himself - it's difficult to not think of what not being able to return to Cadens might mean. ]
I can't say I'd be quick to go through a portal even if it was guaranteed at this point, but ask me in a few days since that might change if the castle gets to be too much. I'll have to make the same request of you that I have of everyone else in Solvunn which is to bring some cheese back with you. I'll find something to bring back from Thorne.
[ He's very serious about this cheese trade, both for the humor and for the cheese. ]
[ Does this answer any questions? Not really, and he knows it. ]
Really, anything we don't have over in Cadens is what I'd be interest in. Though that might end up being a poor choice since who knows if we'll be able to get it again once we're all home.

Cheese? All right. Any specific type that you want?

Anyway, consider it done.

[ Which might sound a little Dramatic for cheese, but: he means that. Cheese is important! ]
If there's anything I can pick up for you in Thorne I'll be sure to bring that back with me, too. Whatever it is: consider it done.
